A Professional Local, QBCC Registered Company You Can Trust

Sometimes a shower simply can’t be repaired and the only cost effective and permanent solution is a shower rebuild or a shower base rebuild. The Shower Dr can rebuild your shower while minimising any inconvenience and downtime.

When a Shower Needs Rebuilding

The Shower Dr can repair most leaking showers without removing tiles by resealing the recess with our state of the art shower sealing system. However, old age comes to all of us, even shower and sometimes a shower can’t be saved or repaired. Some of the signs of this can be:

Badly cracked tiles on the base of the shower
Loose tiles on the shower floor and walls
Multiple missing or cracked tiles
A full waterproofing failure
Separation between the wall tiles and base
A shower base that is damaged beyond repair

In these cases we offer a full repair service including shower base rebuilds and full shower rebuilds.

A Shower Dr Shower Base Rebuild

In cases where the shower base is damaged beyond repair but the shower recess walls and tiles are still in good condition, a base rebuild may be the solution and provide a long term repair. A full base rebuild involves:

Removing the shower screen
Removing all wall grouts and sealants from shower recess
Removing the bottom row of wall tiles and the complete base of the shower
Inspecting the structure and make any necessary minor repairs
Re-sheeting as necessary, installing water stops and a new puddle flange, then fully waterproofing the area with Mapei products
Re-tiling the base and first row of wall tiles
Carrying out a full Shower Dr Shower service to the shower walls to ensure that they remain problem free
Re-installing taps, a shower rose and the shower screen
The bathroom will be left clean and ready for use

You will have a fully guaranteed, cost effective and lasting repair to your shower.

This shower had badly cracked and leaking plastic shower tray. The leak had been causing severe rot in the timber floor beneath. Our solution? A shower base rebuild. A three day project replacing the plastic tray with a fully tiled shower base that is guaranteed to last a minimum of 7 years. This is a great solution for those that need an urgent repair, but don’t have the budget for a full renovation.

A Shower Dr Shower Rebuild

There are occasions when the whole shower recess including the wall tiles are beyond repair. In these cases your Shower Dr tradesman may recommend a full shower rebuild. This service includes:

Removing the shower floor and wall tiles, bedding and associated sheeting, from the entire shower recess
Inspecting the frame structure and make any necessary minor repairs
Cutting a new straight edge shower base out from existing floor
Re-sheeting as necessary, installing water stops and a new puddle flange, then fully waterproofing the area with Mapei products
This creates a ‘hob free’ shower, which in turn alleviates the issues with the older style of construction and makes for a cleaner and more user-friendly shower recess
Screeding a new shower base with fall to the waste and install a new waste grate
Re-tiling the base and walls of the shower
Carrying out a full Shower Dr Shower service to the entire shower recess
Installing taps, a shower rose and shower screen
The bathroom will be left clean and ready for use

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Shower Doctor Team did a fabulous job of an ensuite shower refresh for me - replaced floor and wall tile grout with epoxy and polymer grout. Also replaced silicon sealant. They were very thorough including removing and reinstalling the frameless glass shower wall and door to allow a deep clean. Joe who did the bulk of the work was not only a professional but a perfectionist, did a stellar job and the end result was beautiful. Joe was very generous with his time, his expertise and sharing knowledge on maintainence going forward. He knew his stuff and left the place spotless. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Joe and the Shower Doctor Team.
