A Leaking Shower Repair Story

Nothing lasts forever, not even showers or bathrooms and Bill one of our tradesmen wasn’t surprised when he was asked to inspect a 16 year old shower that had started leaking.

Bill quickly pinpointed the source of the shower leak with his leak detection equipment but also noticed that the grouts, silicone and even the floor tiles were worn and in a poor condition. This bathroom hadn’t had a lot maintenance over its lifespan.

Given the condition of the floor tiles it was obvious to Bill that a Shower Dr Shower Resealing Service would at best be a temporary solution for the homeowner who wanted to give the bathroom a cost effective face-lift while at the same time waterproofing the room.

The Solution:

A full bathroom floor rebuild.

Given the homeowner’s goals to stop the water leak and update the bathroom, Bill’s solution was for The Shower Dr to rejuvenate the room with a full bathroom floor rebuild.

The floor tiles and bedding were removed from the entire room and to ensure water integrity, the bottom row of wall tiles was also removed. This was done so that the new water-proofing membrane can be “lapped” over the old making sure that any water leak issues were permanently resolved.

A contemporary, modern look was given to the bathroom by removing the old style hob construction and replacing it with a streamline water stop. The gives a much more appealing, easy to use and easy to clean shower recess, for a fraction of the cost a full renovation.

Our client’s bathroom was given a very affordable makeover and the finished room looks much more inviting. The use of larger tiles make the room seem spacious and these tiles combined with our use of epoxy grouts ensure the water integrity of the bathroom for many years to come.
